As an interior designer and artist, Happy Martin creates warm, wonderful, landing places that reflect her clients and their families. A cheerful spirit and nonchalant ease permeate her work, resulting in spaces that are unique, stylish and always comfortable. She strongly believes that a home should be about its owner, and is known for designing creative spaces that are distinct and true to her clients’ vision.
Happy graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art and went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. She moved to New York City in 1987 to work for the residential design firm Kaplan Sandercock and Associates, followed by the contract design firm, Rosen Perry Preston. In 1992, she started her own company, Happy Martin Interior Design. In 1998, she moved her business to her native North Carolina where she currently resides.
Trained to understand the importance of classic design, Happy creates timeless yet current interiors. She incorporates pattern, color and objects to create a comfortable and inviting home. She has gained respect from her clients for her honest approach and her ability to create thoughtful spaces that reflect their individual personalities.
